Meet the Staff at Freedom Ride Farms

Lisa S., Founder/Program Director

Equine Cruelty Investigator with 40 years’ experience working with horses. Her internships with veterinarians, disaster recover, and the Red Star Team are an important aspect to the care the animals receive. Certified in SafeSport, Crisis Intervention, Equine Assisted Therapeutic Riding, and Riding Instruction. Lisa worked as a Transition Counselor assisting military members and their families transitioning to civilian life. A 4-h Leader, competitive English and Western, Rodeo Court and gaming. Disciplines: English, Western, and Liberty.

Brian grew up with horses. A retired Air Traffic Controller he enjoys the therapeutic riding programs and can be found shooting hoops with the kids on the sensory trail. He is also a dedicated farrier that keeps the rescue horses on their toes. Assistant Leader of the 4-h group Northern Lights Equestrians and is the Lead Trail Master.

Matt & Tiffany E., Board Members

Matt is a retired Law Enforcement Officer who values students bonding with their horse and adopting the never give up mentality. He works tirelessly on the construction around the farm. When he is not running the tractor, he can be found loving on horses and enjoys trail riding. Tiffany has spent a lifetime with horses. She competed in Barrel Racing and enjoys instructing gaming activities here at the farm. She is instrumental in planning events and sharing her love of horses with the participants. When she is not at the farm, she is a Home Health Caretaker and Cook. Certified in SafeSport and Massage Therapy. Tiffany challenges her students to overcome their fears for success. Her disciplines are Western, Trail, and the occasional bareback adventure.

Kayla S., Board Member

Kayla has served on the Board of Directors since the farm opened in August of 2018. A full Time Emergency dispatcher her experience in business applications, accounting and communication assist the farm with administrative tasks. Kayla has spent her entire life working with rescue animals. She created several fun events for the farm and monitors social media.

Brian S., Instructor/Board Member

Emily R., Board Member

On the Board of Directors since the farm’s beginning. She is a full-time groomer and readily cares for the farm animals. She is responsible for the unique clipper cuts the animals routinely sport. Her compassion and dedication to the animals is so important to the overall success of the operation.

Alyssa S., Board Member

Alyssa has been riding since she was four years old. An avid animal lover with a flare for photography and social media. Her creative ideas are a dynamic addition to our team.

Heidi H., Board Member

A Professor in Law at Delta College, Mom, and Advocate working against trafficking. Heidi finds her peace and down time here at the farm. The animals know the sound of her car pulling in and race to the gate to see her. Heidi is an Attorney who reviews farm documents and activities. Her most important job here at the farm is treat dissemination specialist or treat mom as the kids and animals like to call her. Her horse interests involve Equine Dentistry, Chiropractic, and Massage.

Corrie S., Trainer/Board Member

Corrie has been a participant at the farm since its opening. In 2023 she joined the Board to increase awareness of programs, develop education of staff working with neurodivergent students. She is a Registered Nurse, Mom, and avid Equestrian. Her ability to read horses and determine the best course of action for ground and mounted work. Corrie’s passion for people and horses is outstanding. She assists with Therapeutic Riding, Equestrian Training, Trail Riding and so much more. Certified SafeSport.

Wanda M., Volunteer Coordinator

As a little girl Wanda always wanted to learn to ride horses. As an adult she would pursue that passion for her children. Little did she know that once you’re a horse girl you’re always a horse girl. Her passion for horses quickly reignited and she began taking lessons and participating at the farm over three years ago. Wanda is a full time Office Manager, Mom, and dance enthusiast. She plans events and is always asking how she can help. She has been instrumental in fundraising activities and securing corporate sponsorships. Her excellent communication and organizational skills make her an exceptional volunteer coordinator. Certified Safe Sport.
